New Zealand to Tonga

Hello All

SV Evenstar is an immaculate, seaworthy and super comfy Hallberg Rassy 53 with all the safety gear and mod cons. We are looking for a couple of extra crew for our upcoming passage from Wangarei, New Zealand, to Vavau, Tonga. You will be joining an skipper and crew member, who are old mates in their mid 50’s, very experienced offshore with plenty of miles in this boat, and very easygoing.

We are looking to provision and depart Sept 9/10. The passage will take about a week with maybe a look at Minerva Reef on the way, followed by a short cruise around the Vavau group, finishing up at Vavau for a crew change on Sat Sept 21st. You will share the separate bunk cabin with upper/lower bunks, or else we could put a couple in the forward vee berth. Activities on board include looking for surf, using our dive gear and compressor, and chilling on the SUPs.

NZ to Tonga

I spent 2 weeks on Evenstar sailing between NZ and Tonga. Steve was very easy to work with and the boat and equipment was well maintained. He is very knowledgeable adn easy to get along with. Overall a great experience, I would highly recommend spending time on board with Steve. Antoine

Pacific Crossing with Steve

I sailed with Steve on his HallbergRassy53 from Tahiti to Fiji in September 2022. The boat is in excellent condition and fully equipped with the best you need on a long ocean passage. Steve is one of the most reliable captains I sail with in regards to his sail-trimming skill (permorfance vs safety), mecanics skills, social and living together skill, and he is a excellent communicator. All crew are included in all the sailing tasks (navigation, forecasting, repair, manoeuvre, maintenance, cooking, cleaning etc.) on a same level as he is. Above all, he is very safety minded but take the best of his vessel-performance. As a women-sailor, I felt 100% safe as Steve always was stable, respectful and open-minded. It was lots of fun scuba-diving with the sharks in the Cook Islands, singing and playing guitare on the deck and cooking best food ever on the boat ! Highly recommanded, feel free to contact me for further details on our pacific passage. I hope I can sail again together with Paul and Steve !
