Slowly sailing in search of the perfect wave and good company
Hello adventurous souls! Are you dreaming of sailing the open seas, exploring coastal towns, and chasing waves? I'm looking for a companion to share this incredible journey with me.
---About Me and the Adventure---
I'm an experienced sailor with a passion for the ocean and a 37ft Southerly 115 Mk 1 named "Simplicity". For the past seven years, I've been living aboard, sailing over 3000nm from Greece through the Mediterranean and to the Atlantic coast.
Now, I'm ready for the next chapter: a voyage along the Spanish and Portuguese coasts and eventually further afield. This adventure is about sharing experiences, learning together, finding surf and enjoying the journey.
---The Plan---
Current Location: A Coruna, Northern Spain, spending time exploring the Rias Altas until mid May, when I need to leave the boat for two months, This is an opportunity for the right person to spend time on a boat and experience living on a boat either in a marina or at anchor.
Route: Starting in August 2026, Day sailing along Spanish and Portuguese coasts, stopping at surf spots. I generally anchor out just beyond the break for beach breaks and paddle to the break from the boat. Having surfed it is back to the boat to find a calm anchorage or marina for the night. I only have until mid/end November, at which point I'll see how far down the coast I am and find a place to leave the boat for the winter.
Next Stops: August will be spent exploring the Rias Bajas, after which it will be a slow pace down the coast of Portugal, avoiding Orcas and stopping at surf spots like Nazaire, Aveiro and Peneche. Depending on pace I'll either end up in the south of Spain or the Canary Islands, where I plan to prep the boat for the Atlantic crossing.
Pace: Leisurely, allowing time to explore towns and surf spots, as well as do what ever boat work may arise. It is important to note that Simplicity is first and foremost a sailboat, she is solar electric, which means there is no turning on the engine to motor for hours on end when there is no wind or uncomfortable seas. The motor is there to get us out of trouble and in and out of marinas and anchorages. Thus we wait and choose our weather windows wisely.
---What I'm Looking For---
I'm open to all interested parties, but I'm particularly hoping to connect with people share my love for adventure and the sea. Whether you're an experienced sailor or a complete novice eager to learn, what matters most is your spirit of adventure and enthusiasm for the journey.
While I'm open to the possibility of a deeper connection developing naturally, there's absolutely no expectation of finding a romantic partner. The primary goal is to share this amazing experience with like-minded individuals and hopefully create some lasting friendships
--- Onboard Life ---
Accommodation: Private cabin with two bunks
Skills: No specific sailing skills required - I'm happy to teach!
Contribution: Assistance with two-person maintenance tasks and watches appreciated
Costs: I cover boat expenses; you're responsible for travel and food
