Long term position(s) on live aboard circumnavigation
Great opportunity for a person or a couple that would like to be cruising full time for a longer period of time, preferably a year or more.
We are a couple cruising full time on a 64 feet monohull. We take on up to 6 crew. Crew typically stay 2-8 weeks. We are now looking for some crew members for longer engagement in order to share the workload and responsibilities on board.
What we offer: You get your own cabin with a private bathroom. You get a say in the planning and execution of the voyage. You get a trip of a lifetime through some of the most exotic blue water cruising areas. You get the joy of full time cruising without the pain of owning a boat. You will have the opportunity to take time away from the boat to do other things.
What we expect from you: You pay your share of the cost (as do we and all our crew). You contribute on any task necessary as needed, while generally you take a greater responsibility for specific tasks/areas. You take care of the boat if we take a brake from sailing to visit family back home or make a land based trip.
Our budget is an average of 50usd per person per day. This is what each crew pay, and we cover the rest. This includes food/groceries, water, fuel, marinas, formalities, internet/communication, boat insurance and maintenance. Generally drinks, snack and land-based expenses are not included, the same goes for visas and per person immigration fees and similar.
Here are some examples of areas of responsibility that will be divided between us and you:
- Route planning
- Passage planning
- Engine maintenance
- Cooking
- Cleaning
- Electrics and electronics
- Sail and rigging
- Social media
- Crew recruitment and on-boarding
Please don't hesitate to make contact if you feel this would be an interesting opportunity for you.

Wish I could have stayed longer
Had the pleasure to be on Klaus for 3 weeks, sailing from Tahiti to the Cook Islands. Klaus is fairly spacious for a monohull and it felt like living in someones well equipped home. Life is still more frugal than at home and you are close together. It's life at sea after all and if you're ready to induldge, you'll appreciate it. I also appreciated Tom's experience and calmness, always feeling safe. He takes time to explain things and puts trust in you, and in return expects that people remember stuff and take care of the boat. We visited beautiful french polynesian islands and had one longer passage of 3 days. We were 2 crew, would take watches when sailing, help with mooring/anchoring and share the daily tasks. When not sailing we went snorkelling, did little trips to land but also just enjoyed our time on board?. I found there was a good mix of doing stuff together but also doing "your own thing". We shared laughs and good conversations, while it not being a party boat. For me it was the most relaxing holiday in a long time but still felt like a big adventure - a perfect mix. Thanks Tom & Klaus and hopefully see you soon!
