Do you dream of living on your own boat and making a living from it?
Me too: Here is my suggestion:
Two partners buy a used boat (preferably a multihull) for about 400'000 U$. Each would be in charge for half a year and would operate the boat at his own expense and income, but would also be responsible for it (doesn't need to be six months in a row). Each partner keeps 80% of the income and puts 20% into a pot for maintenance and repairs. My idea is not to have a permanent berth, but having a live-aboard captain instead with the possibility of doing 2 charter seasons per year (Mediterranean and Caribbean). (We could do the transat together or pay for it out of the common fund). If one of us wants out after a year, the boat will be sold together and everything will be shared. If we're both happy, we continue. How does this sound? Might be suitable for a pair too.
