Looking for another hand headed north from USVI to Maine aboard our Tayana 58DS
Now that the winter cruising season is half over I'm turning my attention to the northward spring migration that I've made almost every year for the past 11 years.
We will be departing St Thomas 15-20 April headed for southern Maine. Last year this was a slow (10.5 day) passage. I've done it in as little as 8 and as long as 11.
I intend to sail past Bermuda and could stop in the event of crew or vessel emergency. The plan is to head to our summer season mooring in Falmouth, Maine. Depending on timing/weather/crew, we may make landfall in southern New England and hop up the coast or may go direct.
The vessel is a Tayana 58DS. She'll be wearing a new set of sails, scheduled to be delivered at the end of March. She has a new rig (2023) a new auxiliary diesel (2023). She is a safe, quick and comfortable passagemaker that takes care of her crew. She has over 75k nm under her hull.
I've made this trip back and forth many times and have covered well over 30k NM on this boat. I enjoy the company (and help) of fellow sailors who love to be at sea. If you have experience offshore sailing, great. If you don't and want the experience, also great.
You'll be expected to take a watch shift or two each day. If you can afford it, your contribution to provisioning is appreciated. Other than that, I take care of all boat expenses.
