Dartmouth to Gravesend
Hi there, I'll be sailing up from the river Dart to roughly Gravesend area, and will be port hopping most of the way. If anybody fancies coming along on a bit of a jaunt without too much expectation, I'd welcome the company. The boat is set up to be just about sailable single handed but would be much easier with 2 onboard. Dogs or other pets welcome, smokers welcome, interesting people welcome.
I don't have the funds to be paying a full time crew but I would of course be responsible for all marina costs, fuel costs etc.
I can pay for basic food supplies at sea but I can't be paying for a fancy restaurant every night when we moor somewhere.
This will be an experience for someone on a small wooden cutter rig and an out-of-practice skipper, purely for the miles and the fun of it.
The expected total sail is 254NM or roughly 50 hours, so we can probably expect to make the trip in about a week give or take with nightly stops and easy starts.
I don't need any particular skillset but be aware a cutter rig has a bit more involvement than a typical bermuda rig, and we'll probably have to be a bit more conservative with our headwind angles and tacking opportunities en route. I've got a fairly appropriate travel plan mapped out but we might need to make changes around the Portland race and the Needles etc., and I've never personally sailed around the east coast/Thames estuary before so that'll all be new territory for me.
