Want to join our South Pacific adventure sailing, fishing, hiking and snorkelling?
I’m Sonia, a British skipper sailing around the world with my dog Buoy, onboard a 12m Hanse385 sailing yacht, looking for another sailor to join us as watch keeping crew.
WATCH KEEPER PAYMENT
US$100/week onboard (timescales subject to skipper’s discretion, safety, weather and sea conditions).
EXPENSES;
I will cover fuel, food and drink, as well as boat expenses.
You pay for your own flexible date transportation and flights to and from the boat, including travel insurance, entry visa’s and necessary vaccinations.
WATCH-KEEPER DUTIES ;
1. Watch-Keeper duties 5 hour on, 5 hours off 24/7 rota. We wear a life jacket & a tether whenever on the helm steering. sitting in the cockpit and double tethers when on-deck.
2. Keep a look out for any passing boats or floating objects and listen out for audible alarms.
3. Use chart plotter to note hourly log keeping, and view compass to make sure we are still on track.
4. Take turns to cook, clean, wash up, dry and put away.
5. You will monitor weather conditions plus the wave height and inform skipper Sonia of any increases to maintain safety.
6. You will be provided with a lifejacket and Man Overboard AIS beacon. However you must provide your own sailing travel insurance (with repatriation and medical cover), vaccinations, entry visas and flights to and from the boat.
7. Be a proactive, safe and reliable helpful crew. Be kind to each other and with onboard mascot chihuahua dog.
8. Advance of boarding share evidence of some recent sailing experience and email across all paperwork.
9. Email sailing or STCW certificates to skipper in advance of your travel to the boat.
10. Complete and sign Yacht Crew Agreement, before emailing back to the skipper.
