Not enjoyable

Totally agree with everything said by Mazzy below! Do NOT consider paying to go on this boat. I sailed up the west coast of Sicily 18 months ago, and left the boat 3 days early ( as did another girl) on a 2 week trip, as I could not abide it any longer. Horrible atmosphere Jacqui is controlling, generally opinionated and fairly miserable, and no fun at all. She does not like to put the sails up. She steers the boat only on auto pilot, and does not like anyone else to take the helm. Pays lip service to involving crew in route planning, but the over rides everyone as she in fact already has a plan worked out. Food is well rationed and lunch is sparse. You are not really allowed to touch her supplies, despite the fact that the cost is supposed to cover everything. God help you if you put something back in the fridge in the wrong place, or if you don’t line up the cutlery in the draw neatly! !! AVOID!

TOTAL SCAM. Not as advertised.

I traveled 18 hours to meet up with Jacqui for the sole purpose of improving my sailing skills, which she knew. Halfway into my trip, when we STILL hadn’t even raised the sails, she declared that it would be at least another quarter of the trip before potentially even hoisting the sails because she wanted to spend some days exploring ashore. The boat is far from “luxury”. It is the basic, bare bones, stripped down model. Make no mistake: there are no modern comforts. No water maker, no air conditioning, no icemaker, no electric heads, no Starlink, no washer/dryer/dishwasher etc. There are no cross-ventilation windows, and the tiny fans are not adequate for tropical heat and humidity. Jacqui does not allow you to sleep with the fans on either. She keeps the cockpit and aft outside seating area enclosed in plastic windows “to protect the electronics”. This means you are sweltering in a greenhouse 24/7 with no breeze while you motor miserably (we never did sail). You are not allowed to sit inside. Jacqui provided no safety briefing and when I explicitly asked her about Man Over Board procedures, SOS call, fire safety etc. she refused to even answer me. I brought up safety a 2nd time on another day and she still ignored me. As she says in her post, she is “happily sailing single-handed in the eastern Caribbean”. She couldn’t care less about crew. It is Jacqui’s world and other people are just huge inconveniences to her. There is no fun to be had onboard either. She has a peculiar penchant for American politics. Music is not allowed and she constantly criticizes what you do, eat, drink, wear, and even say. As of July 1, 2024 hurricane Beryl decimated the eastern Caribbean so there is no fun to be had on shore either. The whole notion of taking on crew is a scam which Jacqui profits from. She collects the money upfront and then makes living onboard with her so miserable and insufferable people leave early. I was not the first crew to leave early. Or the last. She refuses to refund the unused days and “happily sails single-handed” that much richer. Should you not believe me and choose to embark with her to experience the misery for yourself, do not pay her upfront. She took my money and I never got to sail.
