A trip for environmentalists, kite surfers, musicians, and adventure seekers

Hello beautiful pirates!

After completing an ambitious sail on my 42ft ketch, SilvaPlana, from Guatemala to the Eastern Caribbean last season, it is time to gear up for another season.

After many hard earned upwind miles, I would like enjoy a season of fun and learning, with a focus on the following: finally learning to wingfoil, free-diving and spearfishing, volunteering on a friend's farm in Dominica to learn for about agriculture, meet up with some friends in Guadalupe to slackline and highline, hiking wherever possible, rest and relax. Maybe even some surfing. I plan to end the season with a passage to Colombia/Panama.

Sounds like a lot! And it probably is. But these are some of my intentions, as it goes with sailing, we will see what unfolds.

In addition, I have some amazing friends that will also be in the Caribbean, I foresee some buddy boating along the way.

The rough plan:

-Silva is currently in Grenada.
-Quick (hopefully) haul out in November to do some maintenance and upgrades.
-Sail to Carriacou to continue any remaining boat work with a nice view.
-Adventures begin.

I would be stoked to have somebody join me in November as an exchange, to help me get through some of the shipyard projects. In exchange I would be happy to host you for some time, and teach you all I know about the sailing life. If there is a happy balance, you can join for the whole season!

I am very open to making new friends that want to come along for the ride, and contribute to the adventures.

I have already made some steps to make Silva more eco friendly, and I want to try my best to minimize her environmental impact.

As a Captain, I have sailed for 3 years already on SilvaPlana, and crossed the Atlantic from South Africa.

Adventure awaits.

Justin.

  • Boat descriptionWe have some luxuries wohoo! -starlink -water maker -2 bathrooms -free dive gear -shower inside + outside -hydrovane autopilot -electric windlass -fridge + freezer -fishing gear and spear fishing gear -radar for navigation We also have safety equipment. -epirb -grab bags -life raft category A We do not have hot water on board. But honestly we don't need it in the tropics. She is a heavy full keel boat. She doesn't sail super well upwind, but I'm working on a solution for that. She is a safe boat. Strong center cockpit design.
