Queensland Coastal Cruising Opportunity
Room for 2 or 3 crew on an Amel Super Maramu ketch with highly experienced offshore & coastal skipper. Currently in Townsville (Magnetic Island) after returning from Indonesia. Boat is booked in for some minor mechanical services on 8-9 May in Townsville, then sailing South at a leisurely pace (weather dependent) to Brisbane. If weather allows, will spend some time in Whitsundays & other islands & reefs on the way. No set time frame.
Crew expectations: Your attitude is more important than your sailing skills or experience. An active, enthusiastic & engaging personality is paramount. You are expected to keep your space & the boat tidy and pull your weight on daily duties. It is not a P&O cruise where you will be waited on. The boat is very safe and comfortable & we would stop at islands & reefs as weather allows. Snorkeling & Spearfishing equipment on board. You will contribute to a share of costs for food but BYO alcohol. You would contribute to dinghy fuel if you want to churn through it exploring or skurfing. If we go into a marina, we will split the cost. Normal running expenses of the boat including diesel are covered by the owner. Absolutely no smoking or recreational drug use. 2 beds are in the front cabin. Another in the sea berth companionway. (Look up the layout on Google for this model boat). You will be mindful of water & power use. The boat has Starlink wifi but you won’t be a good fit if you live with your head in your phone. Please, No vegans or anyone with special dietary requirements. Omnivores only. If you are not experienced, you will learn about sail handling, navigation, safety at sea, anchoring techniques etc etc. Bonus points if you are a great cook or awesome guitarist (Maton guitar on board).
What’s in it for me?: I am a solo skipper who enjoys company & prefers shared experiences. I enjoy helping people learn & experience new skills & I invariably learn new things from them at the same time.
If available now, I might sail out to the Islands & reefs off Townsville in the next week or so before the 7 May.
