Athens to Gibraltar 2/7 to 2/8

Cruising for about 4 weeks starting in Athens, ending up in Gibraltar/Cadiz. We will mostly stay at anchor and avoid marinas. If you have a little sailing experience would be good, but willingness to learn goes a long way. There will be nice places to see, a lot of swimming/snorkelling. Dolphins are guaranteed. The exact route depends on winds, as sailing is much preferable to motoring, but in the Med you never know.

We share all the tasks onboard, that goes from sailing to cooking to cleaning. The boat is an ex racing boat, so expect good sailing, but not luxury accommodations. It is fairly comfortable onboard, though. The cost for food will be shared, so also marina fees all other costs for the boat, including fuel, are on me, Flights are paid by the crew,

  • Boat description78' LOA, 73' LOD ULDB ketch, narrow hull, simple interior but comfortable. Good pentry, 3 cabins, 2 heads, pressurised fresh water, fridge, bimini, 2 dinghies, 2 outboards, Kayak, A/C (only on shore power, heating. Storage is unfortunately very limited. Safety gear depending on cruising area. Always survival suits onboard. Built originally for ocean racing. Long waterline and low displacement make this a very fast and fun to sail cruising yacht, without much drama, though. Logg, echo sounder, wind instrument, autopilot, nav computer, VHF, AIS, Sat tracker. This boat is made for sailing more than marina living. She has a narrow hull and is very different from modern production boats. Hull built to high specifications, with excellent quality. Interior has very little wood, though. all done in fiberglass foam core composite to save weight.

I sailed with Martin three years ago in the Cyclades for 11 days. The boat is fantastically beautiful. Pure joy. Racing quality. All the facilities aboard are top class. Martin is a great skipper and a good man to be around.
