Looking for Experienced Crew for Atlantic Crossing
Looking for experienced crew (5,000+ nm, solo watches, sail handling, basic trouble-shooting and maintenance, etc) for an Atlantic crossing later this year. No commitments now, just throwing it out there to gauge interest for both of us.
Likely itinerary is to arrive in Marbella, Spain on/around mid/late October. Then it’s off to the Canaries (800+nm) and then to Cape Verde (~850nm). Intend to leave Cape Verde on/around late November/early December for the Caribbean (~2,200nm). Potential landfall in St. Lucia early/mid December. Weather, boat systems and people are the primary variables.
The boat is a 2018 Hallberg-Rassy 412 that I purchased new and have been sailing full time (from San Francisco, CA) since the end of 2019. She has been very well maintained, upgraded and is in immaculate condition. She is a monohull with one available quarter berth and two settees available depending on the number aboard. You can expect a very safe boat, well provisioned, to be treated kindly and respectfully. Depending on your skill set, this could be a paid opportunity. Otherwise, there will be no money changing hands.
I am currently in Greece but leaving for a few weeks. However, I will be back in late August. From there, it’s fun sailing and getting to Marbella on/around 15 October. Between September and mid-October, it would be good to meet and, even better, sail together to get a sense of what it might be like for these passages. These are long passages in close quarters so it’s worth the effort to see how things gel.
