Captain - Permanent - Min exp 6 years - General (Caribbean)
We are seeking a permanent, hands-on Skipper/Captain for a privately owned 62’ sailing catamaran, based in the Caribbean. The vessel is owned by a family with two young children (9 years old), and is used only a few times a year for family vacations.
This is a single-crew position that involves far more than just skippering. The right candidate will take full responsibility for the vessel’s year-round upkeep and care — as if it were their own boat.
Key Responsibilities:
Full command and safe operation of the vessel during passages and family use
Routine mechanical maintenance and basic repairs (engine, generator, plumbing, electrical, etc.)
General upkeep and cleaning of all onboard systems and surfaces
Preventive maintenance and troubleshooting of issues as they arise
Preparing the boat for owner visits and decommissioning afterward
Managing occasional haul-outs, marina work, and coordinating with service providers as needed
Requirements:
Extensive sailing experience (minimum 20,000 NM logged)
Strong technical and mechanical skills
Proven ability to manage a boat independently
Fluent in English; French or Spanish is a plus
Trustworthy, proactive, and highly organized
Hands-on and self-sufficient — this is not a megayacht job, and we do not operate on a megayacht budget
Discreet and professional when the family is onboard
Child-friendly and easy-going personality
This is an ideal position for someone who takes pride in maintaining a vessel to a high standard and enjoys a self-reliant lifestyle in the Caribbean. We are looking for someone long-term who will care for the boat as if it were their own.
