Steward(ess) - Permanent - British Virgin Islands
S/V Cuan Law is seeking a full time Stewardess or Steward ahead of our 2025-26 season. This is a year-round, liveaboard position, working and living with 7 full time crew.
All applicants must have current STCW’s and a Food Health and Safety Certificate (or equivalent). Applicants holding a PADI or SSI Divemaster certification or higher, Boatmaster license, as well as having a strong history in the hospitality and culinary industries are preferred.
Our Stewards/Stewardesses must demonstrate competency on deck, assisting with sailing, anchoring, and tender driving, as well as in the galley, assisting our Chef. Having a friendly and outgoing demeanor with our guests is also required. As is expected of all crew, our Stewards/Stewardesses must further demonstrate a strong work ethic, a high level of professionalism, and excellent communication/interpersonal skills.
Cuan Law is a 105’ sailing trimaran with air & nitrox compressors, and two 21’ tenders. Our week-long, diving & sailing charters consist of up to 20 guests.
Guests are typically large family groups and/or certified divers, with many repeat customers. We run varied itineraries, all within the BVI, and include a range of activities from diving, sailing, snorkeling, other water sports, and shore excursions.
All crew are expected to entertain our guests in a fun, family-style atmosphere. In the evenings, our Stewards/Stewardesses are part of an equally shared rotation of responsibilities, including: dining with our guests, shore runs and bar tending, assisting with night dives, washing dishes, etc..
Charter hours are long and, during the high season, our Stewards/Stewardesses should expect to finish charter on Saturday afternoon, and then begin work again on the next charter Sunday morning.
In addition to our charters, our Steward/Stewardesses are required to work during non-charter weeks, and will carry out a wide range of maintenance tasks. This can include: painting, varnishing, basic woodwork, electrical & plumbing repairs, other mechanical services, and deep cleaning. All crew are also responsible for charter turnarounds.
Other general responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Working with the Chef & Head of Housekeeping regarding all domestic tasks.
- Working with the Captain & Divers regarding all deck tasks; including anchoring, sailing, tender driving, assisting with dives and all other guest activities, etc.
- Working with the Captain & Engineer regarding all safety training drills.
- Seeing through the shared evening charter duties without issue or complaint.
- Remaining onboard and completing all boat watch responsibilities during non-charter weeks without issue or complaint.
Other desirable skills and attributes include:
- Willingness to work public holidays, weekends, and long hours.
- Familiarity with British Virgin Islands dive sites and anchorages.
- Strong attention to detail, including with record keeping/accounting, boat maintenance, and guests’ needs.
- Ability to take direction and work positively with an established crew.
- Familiarity with Apple’s Numbers app and the Apple iCloud platform.
Applicants must be non-smokers, and hold a valid driver’s license.
