Sailing instructor - Temporary / Seasonal - General (Caribbean)

ASA/RYA certified instructors preferred. Must be already located in Caribbean. I have put a deposit down on a Beneteau 473 and I am looking for instructors/sailing coaches that can help get me acquainted with and learn how to maintain all the systems on the boat (electrical, gas, water etc) and manage the craft with crew or single and short handed. I would like to learn the ropes, mostly by doing the majority of things myself, under the watchful eye of an expert. Most likely starting location is panama. Trips to the Florida Keys, Bahamas, Dominican, BVIs, and more all expected. Ideally I will take a couple weeks with a few different instructors for multiple perspectives and range of methods and knowledge.

  • Boat descriptionHey there, Im Jeff. I have been an American expat since I was 23 years old, where most of that time I was in China and the Philippines. I used to sell goods online, but now I am pursuing a dream of living aboard my Beneteau 473, learning more about sailing and mastering all the systems on board with the goal of being completely self sufficient and able to see places few have been able to venture. Currently 36 years old and looking to begin cruising in Panama. I am planning to do some exploring around the Caribbean and, then when I'm ready, crossing the Atlantic. I am a very laid back person, intellectually and spiritually curious, and happy to meet people from all kinds of backgrounds. At the moment looking for a sailing coach to better understand all the facets of cruising beyond just sailing fundamentals, such as boat work, fiberglass construction, electrical, gas, and water systems, as well as all manner of skills that make one self reliant and flexible while out on the water. Id love to meet more interesting people for good banter, exciting adventures and lasting memories out on the big blue.
