Summer sailing in New Zealand
Do you want to join for a month of summer sailing in New Zealand? We invite to come for a holiday and/or to expand your sailing experience. We have no specific sailing plan, just follow the weather and find some nice places to anchor. We primarily take booking for the entire month, but enquire about other options if that is not possible for you. We share the daily tasks, such as cooking and cleaning. Participating in the sailing is optional.
Our crew contribute 60USD per person per day, which covers their share of food, fuel, cruising fees and some of the maintenance. We may also offer the option to come as a holidayguest for those who don't want to participate in daily tasks such as cooking and cleaning, in this case your financial contribution will be higher. Inquire for details.
Background story:
We are a couple sailing around the world. We started out from the Canary Islands in November 2023, and expect to return to Europe in 2028 after a full circumnavigation.
While we are capable of sailing by our own, we would like to share the adventure. We take on up to 6 crew members at a time. Crew does not necessarily need prior sailing experience. Crew will be assigned tasks, such as cooking, cleaning, shopping, watch keeping and maintenance.
Long term itiniary (overview):
x 2024 - Caribbean and Latin Amerika
o 2025 - Pacific Ocean and New Zealand
- 2026 - New Zealand, Pacific Ocean and Asia
- 2027 - Asia and Africa
- 2028 - Caribbean and Europe
Wish I could have stayed longer
Had the pleasure to be on Klaus for 3 weeks, sailing from Tahiti to the Cook Islands. Klaus is fairly spacious for a monohull and it felt like living in someones well equipped home. Life is still more frugal than at home and you are close together. It's life at sea after all and if you're ready to induldge, you'll appreciate it. I also appreciated Tom's experience and calmness, always feeling safe. He takes time to explain things and puts trust in you, and in return expects that people remember stuff and take care of the boat. We visited beautiful french polynesian islands and had one longer passage of 3 days. We were 2 crew, would take watches when sailing, help with mooring/anchoring and share the daily tasks. When not sailing we went snorkelling, did little trips to land but also just enjoyed our time on board?. I found there was a good mix of doing stuff together but also doing "your own thing". We shared laughs and good conversations, while it not being a party boat. For me it was the most relaxing holiday in a long time but still felt like a big adventure - a perfect mix. Thanks Tom & Klaus and hopefully see you soon!
