Looking for crew for Weekend Sailing and Longer Passages

It's been a while since I've been active on this site as I've spent this year concentrating on getting my Private Pilot's Licence. Now it's time to get back on the water, as well as flying above it!

Read on if you're within reasonable travelling distance of the Solent/Portsmouth/Gosport...

I'm looking to build a pool of male and female crew members who'd like to regularly sail with me. This would mostly be in the Solent during weekends, ('cos work gets in the way), and for occasional longer passages either along the South Coast, or over to France.

You'll see from my profile what I'd like anyone joining me to bring on board. In addition I have a No Smoking, No Drugs on board policy. Alcohol is OK, provided we're all safely moored up first and don't embarrass ourselves or others!

Costs will be on a shared basis to cover food, drinks and any mooring fees incurred, but I won't be charging for fuel etc. unless for longer passages.

Interested? Drop me a line and let's talk! :-)

  • Boat description"Providence" is a Hanse 400e (the 'e') stands for epoxy resin used in the hull that makes her some 500kg lighter than a conventional boat of this LOA. She also has a large sail area which makes her a great performance cruiser, capable of up to 8 kts when sailed just off the wind in an F4. Despite this, with her generous beam, powered winches, all lines led aft to the cockpit and the optional self-tacking jib (not using at present) she is also easy to sail, even single-handed. With a fully equipped galley with fridge, two generous aft cabins, plus owner's cabin at the bow, two separate heads with holding tanks, sink and showers, Providence has accommodation for up to six on board and is proactively maintained and professionally serviced every year. In terms of navigation and safety Providence has a Raymarine E120 colour chart plotter with repeater below, AIS, Radar, Navtex, VHF fixed and handheld radios with DSC, life jackets for six crew (I have my own in addition), danbuoy, horseshoe, EPIRB, life-raft, offshore flare pack, emergency first aid kit, gas alarm, carbon monoxide alarms and fire extinguishers throughout. She also has a tender with outboard. So, in short, she is well equipped for comfortable sailing both coastal and offshore.
