Leros (Greece) to Punat (Croatia) with 3 dogs
Hello to all of you fellow sailors and life-at-sea-lovers,
I have sailed Carla (Sunbeam 44) with a family crew from the Northern Adriatic to the Aegean Sea this year but my crew is not going to participate in the return trip to Croatia (scheduled for April 2026).
Carla is a self-relient ship (2.5 kWh solar peak, watermaker, washing machine, hot water boiler, induction cooking...) that has been completely refitted in 2023 and 2024. Since I have done nearly everything by myself, I know the ship very well and I would feel confident to sail single-handedly. But since I will have 3 dogs onboard for the return trip, I'm looking for a helping hand. Two dogs have more than 1.500 nm "under their fur" and they are accostumed to life aboard very well, but the newest four-legged crew member is a dog rescued in Greece and new to sailing.
So I'm searching for one person or a couple keen on sailing with dogs. You will have your own cabin with one berth for up to 2 persons (roughly 190 cm long and 140 cm wide at he head, but smaller at the feed). You don't need to have experience in sailing but you should have a hand for dogs and enjoy them being around. I am gladly showing you everything I know about refitting and maintaining a ship, as well as navigating the Med.
The style of the trip will be delivery-like and I want to get back to Croatia within two to four weeks, depending on the weather. The trip shall be enjoyable and easy-going but the empasis will be on covering distance and not on sight-seeing or island hopping. I would do night passages in easy conditions if we could profit from a good weather window by doing so. I could see spending a bit of time around Corfu, though, if the weather permits and the Aegean crossing went smooth. A mountain bike and spear-fishing equipment are onboard, too.
The trip to and from the ship will be on you - we will share the costs for provisioning, restaurants, marinas (if needed) and the Corinth Canal in equal shares. Everything else will be on me. All task onboard will be shared equally (as far as skills permit). Most important for me is being in good company, having fun and a relaxed trip.
Cheers,
Chris
