Roatan - Cuba
Hi there!
I’m looking for an easy-going, capable crew member to help me move my catamaran from Roatan, Honduras to Cuba as my wife had to go back home for a bit.
This is a transit style passage, not a luxury charter — more of a hitchhike-on-a-boat arrangement where you help with watches and day-to-day tasks, and in return I provide food and a berth onboard.
(Full transparency: my last crew plan fell through at the last minute, so I’m trying to find the right person ASAP — but I’m not looking to rush into the wrong fit.)
⸻
What I’m Looking For
✅ Responsible and calm
✅ Comfortable standing watches and being part of a small crew
✅ Independent / self-starter personality
✅ Must be okay with animals (see below)
Novice sailors welcome — as long as you’re willing to learn, follow instructions, and be reliable.
This isn’t about experience levels — it’s about having someone steady to share the watches with and work alongside me.
⸻
Timeline
• Start: ASAP (Roatan)
• Passage: Roatan → Cuba
• Onboard stay: You’ll have a berth until approximately March 5th (possibly longer depending on my wife’s return timing)
• After my wife returns: You’ll have 2–3 days to disembark
⸻
Work & Expectations (Simple & Fair)
Watches
• When underway we run 3 hours on / 3 hours off overnight
• Day watches are a bit longer
• You must be comfortable being on deck alone, but you can always wake me up if anything feels off
(I’m not the “tough guy skipper” type — if you’re unsure, wake me.)
Cooking & Cleaning
• I provide all food/groceries
• We share cooking + dishes + general tidying equally
• I’m not your personal chef — but I’m also definitely not a grumpy old man ?
Arrival in Cuba
• Once we arrive, I’ll need help with a deep-clean and boat prep for about 1–2 days
• After that, you’re free to explore Cuba on your own
• I’ll be staying onboard while waiting for my wife and handling work/admin
⸻
Buddy Boat + Small Dog
We’ll also be travelling with a buddy boat at times.
They come onboard now and then and they have a small dog, so you definitely need to like animals and be comfortable around dogs.
⸻
Important Boat Rules (Non-Negotiable)
Just to keep everything safe, respectful, and drama-free onboard:
• Diet: I provision for a normal standard diet. If you have strict dietary needs (vegan, gluten-free, etc.), this probably won’t be the right boat.
• Professional environment underway:
• No nudity
• No romantic/sexual situations onboard
• Keep your berth and common areas clean
⸻
Visa / Flights
• I will cover the Cuban Tourist Card
• Flights/exit plans we can discuss in advance so it’s clear for both of us

We’ve done two hitchhiker-style crew trips already, and both worked out really well — so I’m confident this can be a great experience for the right person.
