Captain - Temporary / Seasonal - $500 NZD / day - New Zealand

I am in the final stages of purchasing a 53-ft aluminium expedition sailing yacht designed by Joubert-Nivelt and built by Meta (France). The vessel has been extensively surveyed (rigging, sails, engine, systems, corrosion) and will be fully prepared and commissioned ahead of the late-April seasonal weather window.

I am seeking a professional delivery skipper to sail the boat from New Zealand to Victoria, BC, departing when conditions allow. The intent is a conservative but efficient offshore passage, making best use of weather windows. Preference is for completing the delivery in two offshore legs with a stop in Hawaii.

The boat is well set up for long-range passagemaking, with approximately 2,000 L of diesel, a 150 hp engine (cruising 8–9 kn), generator, watermaker, and strong systems redundancy. This is a serious offshore vessel, not a light coastal cruiser.

I plan to be aboard for the passage to gain offshore experience, with the clear understanding that the skipper will have full command of the vessel and all passage decisions.

Compensation: Paid professional delivery. NZD 500/day, negotiable based on experience and role. All vessel-related expenses are covered by the owner.
