Cruising partner/deckhand/cook for sailing Chesapeake prepping for Carribean transit and cruise

Competent Crew/Deckhand/Steward

Private owner-operated 42 ft sailing yacht (Catalina) seeks an experienced sailor or enthusiastic novice to live aboard during fall 2026 and/or winter 2026/2027. September and October will be working up for in intended late November transit to Caribbean. Looking for someone capable to prepare the boat and the team for a transit and winter cruise

Duties
• Sail handling, reefing, anchoring, docking
• General deck duties and routine maintenance
• Basic diesel/systems awareness
• Coastal Chesapeake sailing
• Possible offshore legs (Bahamas ?)
• Galley maintenance


Requirements
• Some experience or strong desire to learn
• Good spoken English or Spanish
• Calm, reliable, team-oriented
• Valid passport and ability to obtain U.S. visa
• Possible offshore legs (Bahamas ?)

Details
• Uncompensated, seeking recreational cruiser

• Owner-paid travel to/from boat (international ok)
• Term: 3–6 months (extendable)

• Mutual shakedown / trial period
