Northwest Passage

We are a crew of two and looking for two more crew to join us on our Northwest Passage. We'll start in Halifax and sail north to Greenland. Once the ice permits, we will sail west and follow the footsteps of Amundsen. As this trip is depending on unpredictable forces of nature, we are looking for experienced crew who are able to do watches on their own. For this trip a US B1/B2 Visa is required, if you are not a US citizen. This Visa needs to be obtained in advance.

Embarkation to this trip is possible from April (New York) to July (Nuuk). If we get along well, an extension of the trip is possible. We are planning to sail further to San Francisco and to Hawaii.

Both of us are 30 and so far we have worked really well with crew around our age.

  • Boat descriptionThe SY Tortuga was build in 1986 and is discovering the oceans for many years. The Reinke Yachts in general are known for their very high security on the ocean. It's the steel version with twin-keels. This leads to a depth of only 1,20 m so discovering a nice bay is very easy possible. The width of 3,49 m by a length of 11,15 creates a lot of space under deck. However it's not a racing boat for the same reason. Like the name implies it's going slow but steady (average speed of 4-5 kts). The tank volumes are capable of traveling long distances (250 l Water, 700 l fuel). There is a life raft for four on board, a Lifejacket for every crew member with a lifeline attached, and a VHF with passive AIS.
