Captain - Temporary / Seasonal - €1700 - General (Europe)
This little Italian classic of 11.20. is a 1 off. Its heavy and stable, not very fast.
Maintenance simple as it uses the main engine to power the batteries in combination with removable solar panels. No complicated systems onboard.
As of 1st of may we operate in the north of Ibiza outside of marinas and has a good dinghy to move yourself and guests from the beach and towards the boat.I rent a good mooring for the season so easy anchorage.
The boat has a simple setup and has only a main 4 cilinder engine (perkins) to run power and trust on the boat and only a simple 12v waterpump for a cold water shower ondeck. There is is a small generator for emergency use and only a 400 w 12/220 converter onboard for your 220 v needs.
As the solar panels are not sufficient to power the fridge it means turning of the power when you leave the boat so you do not run dry on batteries when njoying the island. You keep fridge and batteries in condition by running main engine 1 a 2 x p/day.
A very simple layout means also a simple management.
The boat has a electric anchor winch.
We have a shadowtent and a furler genua.
There is a autopilot and VHF
With guests you will be mostly motorsailing as main sail does not go up when having the shadow tent on unless guests want to losse the shadow tent and also sail the main.
A 2 pit burner is available on a gas bottle to cook.
Charters are done by filling ice bags into a coolbox for drinks, food we cool in the fridge.
We do simple and honest catering, all home cooked and only in need of a final touch onboard.
Getting drinks and groceries aswell ice are part of the job when having a charterday.
You get 90% of the food prepared onboard and need to finish aswell making sure that all needs are met.
The menu usually comes freshly frozen from our house where you pick catering from freezer.
Catering (normally but can be changed)
We start with coffee and cake
The soup you heat while on anchor for lunch and add some cream and herbs
2nd is wraps filling that comes frozen but on the morning of charter you put creamcheese on the wraps add some veggies that can not be frozen and put frozen filling in the wrap and roll it up.
3th is a fruit salad that you cut onboard .
Last is some french bread, cheese and sausages that you put on a plate and guests serve themselves.
Drinks people can take from the coolers ondeck.
As period is well after starting of season all standard maintenance is done.
You will deal with things that are after regular maintenance and when necessary we will call in others that knows how to deal with problems but 90% of all things you will encounter should be up to a captains job to fix.
Handymen during season are hard to get so you do what you can do when things break.
We do day charters with 8-10 guests. Incl openbar and most of the times catering
As a lot of charters boats around the Balears jslands we also have NO LICENSE to do so.
The captain will live onboard and will take responsibility while onboard for bad weather and keeping boat in safe conditions. So that means also canceling a trip when weather conditions are not safe.
Besides the boat the position comes with a old but fine functioning Nissan patrol jeep for your land transport.
You will have time and opportunity to see Ibiza as long as you are ready to take on a charter and deal with weather conditions.
All from anchor!
We do about 2-4 charters pw
We mostly function from north side of Ibiza. There is no marinas or control there, and is it fabulous around.
Captain sails alone and knows how to deal with also heavy
weather.
For a very experienced skipper its maybe not the job but for someone that knows about boats its right one.
Take in consideration that its not official.
The pay is 1700 pm cash and use of a car included.
We hold 1600l water and 120 l diesel.
Ofcourse all cost of boat and dinghy is payed by me.
Personal expenses are for captain himself.
If captain arranges charters he gets 30% of revenue-costs of food and drinks.
As a seison from beginning of may until mid oktober is long I was thinking of breaking the season in 2 parts, but if wanted and fit for the job you could stay longer.
I find experience more valuable than papers, Besides boat handeling you must have fun in dealing with guests.
