1st Mate - Temporary / Seasonal - Australia

We are seeking an experience sailor to join the crew for a circumnavigation of Tasmania. This is a high latitude passage involving the rugged West Coast and Southern Ocean conditions, I’m currently planning to leaving Hobart early to mid January.
We are planning to tackle the island anticlockwise with particular focus on the rugged West Coast and the pristine Waters of Port Davie and Bathurst Harbour. The total journey is approximately 800 nautical miles and we anticipate being at Sea numerous weeks.
My boat is a X 40 by Danish boat builders X Yachts she is well equipped for off shore passage making. My son and I sailed her from my home port of Newcastle to Hobart earlier this year.
Responsibilities
Navigation and passage planning (incl. night navigation, pilotage)
- Boat handling under sail (trimming, close-quarters sailing)
- Docking and anchoring (under engine and sail, incl. Med mooring)
- Safety and emergency procedures (STCW)
- Engine maintenance and troubleshooting
