Circumnavigation Cruising
Hi! I'm Michael & this is my 41ft Westerly Oceanlord. She is a comfortable centre-cockpit cruiser with 2 double cabins (one occupied by myself, the other a V-berth) and single bunk between saloon and aft cabin.
She is well equipped for offshore sailing having already completed multiple transatlantic passages under previous ownership and is currently undergoing upgrades including standing rigging renewal and the addition of solar power and water maker (meaning we don't have to be too stingy with showers, electricity etc!).
Atlantic crossing as part of a circumnavigation. Departing the UK to Northern Spain in June 2026. From there, southbound along the European Atlantic coast. Planning to make landfall in the Canaries or Cabo Verde to arrive in time for a transatlantic departure from either in early-mid November. From there, onwards to the windward islands until Feb 2027, before transiting the Panama Canal.
Looking for two individuals or individual + couple to join for one or multiple legs. Requesting contributions £15pp/day for fuel, food, fees etc. My plan is to put all crew contributions into a shared pot. Provisioning? Pay from the pot. Going out together for a few drinks and some food? Pay from the pot. Refuel? Pay from the pot, and so on. This way all necessities and group activities are covered up front and in a transparent way.
The purpose of this journey is to explore the world, discover remote places, connect with nature and make friends. I plan to cruise on a fairly limited budget so people who are happy with the simplicity of life (sailing, hiking, swimming/snorkelling, fishing) would be most at home.
I'm open to people looking to join for any period of time so long as they can maintain their contributions and travel home costs.
Having a harmonious crew is important to me so I'd love to know more about your personality as well as just your sailing experience to see if you're a good fit. I don't mind having inexperienced crew aboard, in fact I'd love to share what I know about sailing and boat maintenance! However, I'd prefer to keep completely novice crew to one at a time (out of max 3 crew) to ensure we have enough capable hands on board to manage watch schedules etc.
Pitching in with cooking, cleaning and watches is expected - I will of course be doing my fair share, splitting equally between all members onboard including myself.
