An experienced and highly professional Yacht Captain is sought to oversee the safe operation, navigation, maintenance, and management of a private fleet consisting of a Hanse 67.5, Moody DS62, and Sessa 35.
The ideal candidate will possess strong seamanship, technical expertise, leadership ability, and exceptional organizational skills, with proven experience operating both sailing and motor yachts to the highest professional standards.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
Vessel Operations & Navigation
Safe command and navigation of all vessels in accordance with maritime regulations and best seamanship practices
Voyage planning, passage preparation, weather routing, and fuel management
Docking, anchoring, mooring, and maneuvering in various marina and offshore conditions
Ensure all safety equipment, navigation systems, and onboard machinery are fully operational
Maintain compliance with flag state, port authority, and insurance requirements
Maintenance & Technical Oversight
Oversee preventative maintenance schedules for engines, generators, rigging, electrical, plumbing, and onboard systems
Coordinate repairs, servicing, haul-outs, and contractor supervision
Maintain vessel cleanliness, presentation, and operational readiness at all times
Monitor inventory of spare parts, consumables, and maintenance supplies
Crew & Guest Management
Manage and supervise crew when applicable
Ensure professional onboard standards and excellent guest experience
Coordinate provisioning, itinerary planning, and guest logistics
Maintain discretion, confidentiality, and a service-oriented attitude
Administrative Responsibilities
Maintain ship’s logs, maintenance records, certifications, and operational documentation
Budget management and expense reporting
Liaise with marinas, agents, suppliers, and yacht management companies
Ensure all licenses, registrations, and inspections remain current
Professional Requirements
Valid Yachtmaster Offshore/Ocean, Master 200 GT, or equivalent commercial certification
STCW certification required
ENG1 or equivalent medical certificate
Minimum 5 years proven experience as Captain on sailing and motor yachts of comparable size
Strong knowledge of yacht systems, maintenance, and troubleshooting
Experience operating both monohull sailing yachts and performance motor yachts
Excellent navigation, communication, and leadership skills
Ability to work flexible schedules, including extended cruising periods
High standards of professionalism, safety awareness, and attention to detail
Preferred Qualifications
Mediterranean cruising experience
Mechanical or engineering background
Tender handling and watersports experience
Additional language skills considered an advantage
