Gulf Coast Cruising

I am looking for one or two crew members to assist with sailing on Sabine Lake and some inland passageways in preparation for cruising the Gulf Coast later this summer. There are a few projects that will be under taken to prepare the boat. The plan is to sail the Gulf Coast and possibly the Florida Keys come Autumn.

Some general knowledge of sailing is helpful but not absolutely necessary. You will be doing all forms of boat maintenance and sharing watch duty when at sea.

This is a 30 foot Catalina so accommodations are tight. The boat can sleep 6 but I don't expect to have more than 4 people sharing space at any time. Your main responsibility will be to assist with docking and securing the boat, preparing the boat for sailing and casting off, sharing watch duty, and sharing cooking and cleaning duties at dock and under way.

If you have any questions feel free to ask.

  • Boat descriptionRecently acquired 1976 Catalina 30 in good condition. Currently undertaking cosmetic upgrades. All USCG safety equipment required for coastal sailing on board. Rubber dinghy with 6hp outboard. Yanmar 2M freshwater diesel inboard. Depth gauge, wind speed and direction, compass, and Garmin navigation with autopilot all operational. Vhf and handheld work. Intend to add AIS prior to coastal sailing. Slip is located at Pleasure Island Marina in Port Arthur. Have done some sailing in Sabine Lake and motoring in the Sabine/Neches channel but I have yet to take her outside. I'm working on rigging her for solo but haven't completed that as of 6-7-26. My intention is to prep her over the summer for cruising to Florida late September. If you have any interest let me know.
