Steward(ess) - Permanent - Min exp 2 years - British Virgin Islands
S/V Cuan Law is seeking a full time Stewardess/Steward ahead of our 2026-27 season. This is a year-round position, working and living with 7 full time crew in the British Virgin Islands.
All applicants must have current STCW’s, Power Boat Level II, and a Food Health & Safety Certificate (or equivalent). Candidates with a history in the culinary industry, as well as scuba diving and other water sports experience are preferred.
Candidates must demonstrate competency in the galley, assisting our Chef, as well as on deck. Having a friendly and outgoing demeanor with our guests is also required. As is expected of all crew, our Stewards/Stewardesses must further demonstrate a strong work ethic, a high level of professionalism, and excellent communication/interpersonal skills.
Cuan Law is a 105’ sailing trimaran with air & nitrox compressors, and two 210hp tenders. Our week-long, diving & sailing charters consist of up to 20 guests.
Guests are typically large family groups and/or certified divers, with many repeat customers. We run varied itineraries, all within the BVI, and offer a range of activities: diving, sailing, snorkeling, kayaking, waterskiing, wake-boarding, tubing, shore excursions, etc..
All crew are expected to entertain our guests in a fun, family-style atmosphere. In the evenings, our Stewards/Stewardesses are part of an equally shared rotation of responsibilities, including: dining with our guests, shore runs and bar tending, assisting with night dives, washing dishes, etc..
Charter hours are long and, during the high season, our Stewards/Stewardesses should expect to finish charter on Saturday afternoon, and then begin work again on the next charter Sunday morning.
In addition to our charters, our Steward/Stewardesses are required to work during non-charter weeks, and will carry out a wide range of maintenance tasks. Painting, varnishing, polishing, basic woodwork, minor repairs, and deep cleaning are all examples of standard maintenance tasks. All crew are also responsible for charter turnarounds.
Other responsibilities of this position include:
- Baking, fruit platters, general food prep, and assisting the Chef as required
- Bartending, serving meals, coordinating with the Chef on special requests
- Laundry services, guest cabin turnarounds, and overall interior upkeep
- Maintaining inventory and sales data of onboard boutique items, and crew uniforms
- Tender driving, assisting on deck with sailing, anchoring, etc.
- Assisting divers with tanks and gear, keeping safety watch of divers
- Guiding guest on shore excursions, snorkel trips, kayaking, and Hobie Cat sailing
Desirable skills and attributes include:
- Familiarity with British Virgin Islands dive sites and anchorages.
- Strong attention to detail and proactive approach to boat maintenance
- Drama-free personality. Ability to take direction and work positively within an established team.
- Interest in a long term position with ability to train and advance into other roles (I.e., Dive Instructor, Chef)
- Familiarity with Apple Numbers and iCloud for record keeping/accounting
