Boat Yoga on the Canaries
Dear SeaPeople,
after some time cruising — and with the passage from Portugal to Madeira (May) and Madeira to the Canaries (Sept.) it is time to find a nice, sheltered place again, decelerate and give back some love to our old lady — a 1973 Apache catamaran.
I call boatwork boat yoga for two main reasons: it challenges both the mind and the body (as we embrace the DIY spirit and this is my first boat) — it also makes me discover unforeseen body positions and practice patience, endurance and persistence like nothing I have experienced before.
That said, I am truly looking forward to working on the boat and immersing myself into topics like a) making our dighy sailable, b) finishing the deck paint job, c) refurbishing/reorganizing the lockers and of course, spending some time becoming a diesel mechanic and an electrician.. combined with the prospect of doing all this in good company (there will be 2-3 ppl on board) and in a gorgeaus environment where we can instantly slip into adventure/vacation mode if we please, completes my vision of a productive and exciting winter season down south.
While there might be occasional coastal sailing/island hopping involved from time to time, it shall be a gorgeous exception to an otherwise rather static boatlife (but preferably on anchor with great snorkling/outdoor activities at our doorstep)!
If you can picture yourself in this scenario, if you are patient, determined and interested in things (and problem-solving) and if you are used to communicating openly/honestly and take proactive care of a kind and solidary communal life on board (basically a very intense, tiny shared floating apartment), please feel free to apply for your private cabin in order to join us.
We will agree on a small contribution towards the food and household expenses and make it a win-win situation through open and honest communication.
Pls bear in mind that Tailwind is a base camp for adventurers, a platform to learn and teach and a safe place for kind ppl of all origins and ideals — no hostilities can therefore be tolerated.
