About the Position
S/Y SEVEN, a 67ft catamaran, is looking for a sole Deckhand to join the vessel for the rest of the season cruising Fiji until end of October.
Note: The interior is already fully staffed with a Stew/Cook. This is a dedicated deck role focusing on outdoor operations, technical support, and family activities.
This is a professional, routine working position supporting a family. We are looking for someone reliable who wants a solid season of work, not a hitchhiking or casual holiday experience.
About the Owners
Seasoned sailors in their mid-forties with an adventurous teenager and a pre-teen. They have already completed a 2.5-year journey from the Mediterranean to New Zealand on their previous sailboat and have been cruising the Pacific on SEVEN. The family is highly active, spending substantial amount of time in the water.
The Reality of the Role
The boat is used for private family cruising rather than performance sailing. However, supporting an active family means understanding that this role requires a flexible, "can-do" attitude and involves long working hours when the family is on board. The daily routine centers around active water sports, coastal hops, maintenance, and keeping the exterior of the boat well-organized.
Key Responsibilities
Water Sports Support:
• Setting up, launching, and packing away dive equipment, kitefoiling gear, wakeboards, and water toys.
Sailing and Maintenance Support:
• Assisting the Captain/Owner with standard boat operations, including docking, anchoring, line handling, and watches during coastal transits.
• Helping with regular deck upkeep, daily washdowns, and basic maintenance to keep the exterior to a high standard.
• Confidently piloting the dinghy for provisioning runs, shore transfers, and water sports towing.
Requirements:
• Experience: Minimum of 1 year of yachting experience preferred so you can hit the ground running.
• Attitude: A flexible, positive "can-do" mindset. You must be comfortable with the long hours required during active family trips.
• Skills: Familiarity with water sports and setting up dive gear is a major plus.
• Qualifications: Small boat/tender license is preferred.
What is Provided:
• Standard monthly salary based on experience.
• Inbound travel and transfer costs to Savusavu covered by the owner.
