Sailor wanted NZ to Australia
After nearly two years of cruising NZ and Fiji, it's time to return to Australia. I'm looking for 1 or 2 crew to join me from the Bay Of Islands across the ditch to either the Gold Coast or Coffs Harbor. You will have some sailing experience, but most important are good health, a sense of humor, an adventurous spirit, land love of the ocean. You will do watch keeping, help with adjusting sails, monitor safety systems, hold to course plans, and simple cooking duty. And deal competently with anything else that might happen! You will have your own cabin. Ideally we will have a few days sailing around the Bay Of Islands to get familiarized while waiting for a good weather window. If you are available to help with the pre-voyage haul out and antifouling painting we can certainly work something out. Preferably you pay costs for getting to the Bay Of Islands, I'll cover voyage expenses.
I've crossed the Tasman a couple of times, have commercial marine qualifications, first aid and am confident in myself and the boat. She's sea kindly, recently fully refurbished with new engine, electronics, satellite system, and various sail options for light or heavy weather.

Chris as crew
Chris crewed with us on our Tasman crossing in January 2024 Hobart to Nelson. He was our third on our very modest sized classic sloop/cutter. Having an easy personality, confidence and sailing skill set are imperative on such a challenging ocean voyage and Chris ticked all those boxes, without ever taking unnecessary risks. He was a great addition to our crew and was always easy to get along with and willing to offer help at any time. We had one challenging night of 50 knot gusts in 40 average and seas built to 6 meters, Chris was eager to be on hand and remained calm and effective throughout these challenging conditions. I know that Chris and Lucy, will be both thoughtful and sensibly planned and prepared sailors and would very happily cross the Tasman with them if I had the time. I am very confident they will take great care of their crew.
