New Caledonia to NZ - October 2026

My situation is that I am single, recently retired from the IT industry, have 3 grown up children that are very low maintenance, have been sailing on other peoples yachts for the last 10 years and have now taken the plunge and purchased one.

The yacht is new to me having been purchased in Aug 2026 however I have sailed on the same make/model in the past.

The Amel Super Maramu 2000 is purpose designed for a small crew to circumnavigate. It has a 100Hp Yanmar engine, a new 7kw Generator, new standing rigging Apr 2026, dive compressor, hookah dive system, air conditioning, 1 day fridge, 2 large switchable fridge/freezers, 600l diesel, 1000l water, water maker, 2 autopilots, Life Raft (2024), 5 watertight compartments, electric genoa & main sail furling, 2 private double cabins each with ensuite head & shower, very safe centre cockpit with all controls in arms reach, etc.

The plan for rest of 2026 is to join the Island Cruising Sail South to NZ rally departing Noumea to arrive in NZ (Opua or Marsden Cove) before end of Oct 26 and start of cyclone season.

There are some rally sailing activities around New Caledonia in the first week of Oct 26 & it would be good for you participate in those so you can become familiar with yacht.

After arriving in NZ there is some sailing around Bay of Islands/Great Barrier Island possibly leaving the yacht in Opua in late November/early December. You not have to commit to this part of the plan but you are welcome to.

The plan is to have at least 3 people on board; myself, my daughter and at least one other. You will have your own double cabin with a separate shared head/shower.

In early 2027, the plan is to sail the NZ South Island and in May 2027 look for a weather window to Tahiti. From Tahiti doing the island hop back to Fiji and another passage to NZ before end of Oct 2027.
