1st Mate - Permanent - General (Europe)
Looking for first mate / engineer to assist owner skipper on new Oyster 595 on delivery from Ipswich to the Mediterranean and subsequent cruising through Italy / Greece / Croatia. Leading to ARC at the end of the year and potential to carry on into the Oyster World Rally 2028/29.
Own cabin.
Apart from normal duties on a long range cruising vessel, you should have the patience / EQ / aptitude to help develop the sailing skills of friends and family who will join the boat through the season.
Whilst I wish to have the experience of skippering the boat (particularly on the Oyster World Rally), I would value a first mate who is able to bring their own views, and have the confidence to express them, in relation to any aspect of the running of the boat.
The vessel will not be used for charter and you should expect to be treated as part of “the family”, included in all excursions etc.
As ours is still being built, the profile picture is of a virtually identical 595, belonging to a friend, that I sailed on earlier this year.
