1st Mate - Day Work - €200 - Spain
Hello,
I am looking for an experienced crew member to join me for a passage from Mahón, Menorca, to Carloforte, Sardinia, around 18–20 October, depending on the weather window.
The boat is an Amel Super Maramu 2000, 53 ft, fully equipped for offshore cruising, including autopilot, radar, AIS and modern navigation equipment.
The passage is approximately 190–200 NM and should take around 28–32 hours, so it will involve an overnight passage and night watches.
I am the owner/skipper and I am specifically looking for someone with solid offshore sailing experience who is comfortable:
* standing an independent 3–4 hour night watch;
* handling normal sail adjustments and reefing when necessary;
* using autopilot, radar, AIS and electronic navigation;
* making routine decisions independently during a watch.
Ideally, I would like the crew member to arrive in Mahón at least one day before departure, so that we can get acquainted and go through the boat, safety equipment and procedures together.
Could you please tell me:
* your offshore sailing experience and approximate number of nautical miles;
* how many overnight passages you have completed;
* your experience standing night watches independently;
* your experience on sailing yachts of around 50 ft or larger;
* whether you would be available in Mahón around 17–20 October;
* whether you are looking for a paid position or another arrangement, and your expected terms.
After Carloforte, I will continue towards Sicily and Malta, although at this stage I am primarily looking for crew for the Mahón–Carloforte passage.
Thank you, and I look forward to hearing from you.
Best regards,
Richard
