Lines away for the next chapter of a true slow-travel adventure! ⛵✨

The first stages are already behind me. I have now arrived in Vitry-le-François and am heading out from here to continue my journey through the picturesque French canals down to Le Grau-du-Roi.

The motto remains: The journey is the destination. No rushing, no stress – I really want to experience the country, the towns, and nature. On the way south, we will definitely tie up for a few days at beautiful spots and highlights along the route to go exploring.

Since my girlfriend cannot be on board for the entire trip, I am looking for one or two friendly crew members who would like to join me for certain legs or the rest of the journey.

The Floating Home & Crew

The Yacht: A classic, seaworthy Malö 50 (built in 1979). She is well-maintained, cozy, and – most importantly – completely odor-free! The mast has been safely unstepped for canal navigation.

Your Accommodation: A separate aft cabin with two comfortable single berths is reserved for the crew. My girlfriend will join for a few days here and there, which will leave your private area in the aft cabin completely untouched.

The Captain: Male, born in 1985, non-smoker, condition: "Still good!" ? I speak German, English, and Russian (all fluent), and I have a good hand for onboard technical systems (I handle repairs myself). The only catch: I prefer leaving the cooking to others. However, I am great at eating ?

Key Details at a Glance

Current Location / Start: Vitry-le-François (available immediately).

Duration: I would like to reach Le Grau-du-Roi end of November

Route: Vitry-le-François -> French canals -> Le Grau-du-Roi

What You Should Bring (and What Not)

Safety On Board: You do not need previous sailing experience, but you should be eager to learn and handy around the boat. On the water, there is no democracy on board. During maneuvers or tricky situations, captain's orders must be followed immediately and without discussion. Act first, ask questions later – delays can become dangerous. I think you know what I mean ?

Requirements: If you know how to cleat a line or are willing to learn, you are qualified.

Life On Board: Outside of maneuvers, a respectful and relaxed atmosphere comes first. Cooking is not mandatory, but if you cook for us, I will happily dig in.

Onboard Rules: Zero tolerance for illegal drugs. A quiet evening beer or a moderate glass of wine is completely fine. Ideally, you are a non-smoker. If you smoke, strictly outdoors. (The captain enjoys a Cuba Libre / Whisky Cola, but only once securely moored) ?

Costs: You cover your personal expenses. A contribution toward mooring fees is appreciated, but not mandatory. Fair sharing of shared onboard expenses (consumables).

Are you up for a canal adventure, fresh morning baguettes, and unforgettable moments off the beaten path?

Then drop me a line – I look forward to meeting you!
