Experienced sailor/climber looking for crew to sail from Seattle to Prince Rupert or Alaska.

I have sailed the Pacific Sea Craft, Dana 24 - [27' LOA] 18,000+ nmiles since 2012: Alaska x 2, Circumnavigated Vancouver Isl x 2, off shore to Haida Gwaii, several times to Cape Caution & Prince Rupert.

I sail BC Canada coast and North each year, usually leave in May or June, return August, or Sept. Covid-19 Border entry & weather are main variables. I take Time to explore Central & N BC coast. Usually anchor out, good photography,
No smoking or drugs, I'm professional, have extensive high altitude climbing expeditions, wilderness trekking and coastal cruising experience. Looking for someone w outdoor experience who wants to sail, to share all or part of trip. Proof of Covid-19 immunization to enter BC, may be required.

Interviewing now for crew to sail Fall & winter 2023 Puget Sound area &/or N towards Alaska May 2024.

  • Boat descriptionDana-24 is 27' LOA. Pacific SeaCraft about 10,000# dry, probably 14,000# w two months of food, fuel, water. Draft 3'8" - 3800 pounds of lead in full keel, cut-a-way-forefoot. Diesel: 3 YM20 21 hp - 1.3 liters/hr 20 Gal Diesel tank + 20 gal diesel extra, 40 gal water tank + containers Hot shower, wet head, small refrigerator, Propane 2 burner cook top Raymarine Chart plotter, depth sounder, Radar, also AIS [two way], Autotiller, Anchor alarm Marine VHF radio + handhelds for crew on PFD PFD's sailing harness & tether and separate kayak PFD for at anchor, PFD whistle, light, fire starter, & Handheld VHF Satellite tracker, text device and satellite text weather.on board. Solar panel and battery bank to support electronics, Sails great, hull speed is 6.2 sometimes hit 6.4 knots, cruise usually 5.4-5.5 knots Genoa on furler, but also have hank on storm and drifter sails for Dynema Solent stay for backup. Main has deep triple reef and partial slap reefing setup. Sleeping: double v-berth or Port Midship berth for crew, skipper sleeps midship starboard berth. Crew should purchase Bear Spray in Nanaimo for shore exploration on way North, and bring mostly wool or synthetic base layers, fleece, and good wind and rain gear. Most cycling, climbing, kayaking clothing can be adapted. Cotton gear must be kept to minimum since its so difficult to dry & very cold when wet. This is a very well built, comfortable, "go simple, small and soon." ocean sailor - rigged for off grid adventures on the BC Coast and in Alaska.
