Sail a spacious catamaran in the Bay of Islands or work on electric boats

From 2016-2020 I sailed from New Zealand to Europe and back, now I'm based at my own little marina in a stunningly beautiful location on the Kerikeri river in the Bay of Islands.

Looking for good reliable crew to sail my 50ft catamaran on occasional weekend coastal trips.

I also operate a fleet of electric boats for hire and have a business selling and installing electric motors for boats. If you stay long term then there's the option of paid work operating the safety boat for the electric hire boats and/or in all other aspects of the electric boating business. The business is rapidly growing and this could soon become a full time role for the right person.

I'm a single dad to a five year old, so crew with an interest in childcare would be a bonus, sailing experience is preferred but not essential.

At the moment I'm mostly just doing short coastal cruises for a few days at a time. We are not planning to do any long voyages this year but we will do again in future so it's an opportunity if you stick around for a while.

The following info pertains to crewing for long voyages such as when we go up to Tonga, Fiji etc. :

You should be enthusiastic, hard-working and not prone to severe seasickness. References may be required. Daily contribution towards costs such as fuel, food, insurance etc. is usually required (negotiable if you have an RYA Yachtmaster qualification) and you pay for your own flights etc.

Experience of some/all of watchkeeping, offshore sailing, night sailing, navigation, maintenance skills and heavy weather preferred but you might be able to make up for a shortfall in skills with sheer enthusiasm if you are a fast learner!

I have a background in sail training and am happy to teach to fill any gaps in your experience. I'm a commercially qualified skipper and have high standards of safety. The yacht is very comfortable, seaworthy and extremely well equipped and very well maintained. Until recently she was regularly surveyed as a commercial passenger vessel but now she's a private yacht and our spacious home on the water.

Please contact me ASAP if interested.
