Cruising on the West coast of Scotland

Leisurely cruising on the west coast of Scotland throughout the summer. No particular plans just to suit the weather and crew's wishes where possible. I like cooking and aim to be at anchor or alongside in time to enjoy a good meal each day and I rarely do overnight passages unless essential. I sleep in the aft cabin and there is one single berth in the forward cabin for someone to sail with me. I don't have room to accommodate a couple and have found over the years a relaxed female crew definitely suits my cruising style better than a racer or mile builder. I am not bothered about cost sharing as it generally costs the same as if I sail singlehanded. I used to sail with the Ocean Youth Club and Sail Training Association so am used to sailing with inexperienced crew. An extra person makes life much easier especially coming alongside in a blow and I usually manage to pass on a bit of my limited sailing knowledge to help people along.

  • Boat descriptionHeavy quality build cruising pilothouse yacht with plenty of equipment for safety and comfort. Heating and inside steering position for all weather pleasure. Never race and will motor or motorsail if conditions are not favourable for an enjoyable sail. Comfortable cruising with leisurely time ashore and good food is important so plenty of water, diesel and food storage including two fridges and a small freezer. Separate generator for extended time away from marinas and good anchor and 100m all chain rode for stress free nights. Decent sized Zodiac and outboard for getting ashore. Forward cabin with good size single bunk and storage available for guest. No thrashing into rough weather just for the sake of it so not good for mile builders.
