  • Boat descriptionWell equipped and comfortable 16m/53ft ketch with new B&G electronics/radar/AIS, 2 autopilots, etc. She sails like a dream, practically sailing herself. I rarely leave the cockpit when at sea. 2 cabins, 2 heads, she'll comfortably sleep 7. Solid blue-water yacht designed for world-cruising. I'm in Panamá for boat upgrades and surfing. Next I'll hit Galápagos islands and cross to the South Pacific. Surfboards, dive gear, kitesurfing gear, SUP, etc. all on the boat. Basically chasing the best surf, food, culture, people, vibes, company, lifestyle, etc. Life in harmony & do no harm. Looking for good, like-minded crew.

Very traumatic experience

1

Scott and I did chat on whatsapp at length prior to me booking a flight ticket to join his boat. While he seemed like a normal person, at some point I felt some inability to manage disagreements and a tendency to paranoia. Being a sensitive person myself, I saw it as a red flag and cancelled the flight ticket. Scott then proceeded to persuade me that we weren't incompatible, that we could solve any issues that would arise and, while reluctant at first, after a few weeks I booked another ticket. After a very long and expensive journey, I did arrive. And while at first things were fine, my level of exhaustion created a slight tension (linked to the professional sphere, nothing personal) that changed his character completely. From being a relatively amenable person prior to that, he became the same person that had scared me into cancelling my first ticket over the phone. Authoritarian, defensive, paranoid, impulsive, raising his voice in a threatening manner, completely closed to the other person's attempt to have a non-conflictual dialogue and even cruel. Indeed, after only 3 days on the boat and 1,600 euros of traveling costs to get there, after he insisted we should give it a try (despite me having cancelled and expressed strong doubts and reluctance), he told me I should get off the boat and that we would not be sailing together. I was in utter shock and still am. At some point, while I was explaining how shocking and traumatizing it was for me, and how vulnerable and at-risk I was feeling in a foreign country I had flown to to sail with him, he again lost his temper and even threatened that I should leave in the middle of the night. He also called me manipulative etc. The last day, while I was showering at the Marina, he put my half-packed suitcases and all my belongings in bin bags and left them on the deck of the Marina. I couldn't stop crying after this violence and humiliation. At this point I was scared of him. Then I tried to have him pay a quarter of my traveling expenses to come. He agreed, but refused to give them to me until I was in the taxi to leave he Marina, and again yelled at me in the process. So be careful, he looks like a cool surfer, but he is someone with a double personality, and when he feels opposition or criticism, he goes into very aggressive mode (he calls it "snapping"), and there is no going back. So not a reliable person, definitely not a responsible/mature person, and not someone who is a gentleman and controls his anger/dark side. After this failed experience (I didn't even get to sail one day), I will not be looking for captains and boats anymore, I am too traumatized. I am actually writing this from a medical facility I had to go to after fainting when arriving to the unknown place I had to seek refuge out, completely unplanned and unforeseen, after many sleepless nights and a lot of tension. So yes, be careful. You will not find empathy in Scott if there is ANY slight issue. You'll be OUT, and not nicely. His "do no harm" is just sweet talk, which he doesn't walk the least.

Unstable person

1

Unstable and bad-tempered person. After few messages and video calls we agreed I could join his boat, he sent me an invitation letter for custom so I booked my flights, just two days after he got upset for a non reply to a "goodnight" text and disappear. First red flag. He came back again with nice messages, then said we'd need more time to know each other, too late since my tickets were unrefundable, so I decided to go to Puerto Rico anyway and stay in hotel for 3 nights, he came to town to meet face to face but arrived late around 8.30 pm. He first was pissed off because he did not like the B&B, then disappointed for the fact the all restaurants were shut for curfew. After just an hour together walking around the city center with a grumpy face he left. Drove back to the boat and the day after he told me we could not fit, of course after that behavior I was no longer interest in joining his boat. I spent 500 US in flights, hotel, visa and covid test and he changed his mind after agreement.

Very bad experience

Please be aware of this person. He is aggressive and psychologically not 100%. At first he looks friendly but this is not who he truly is. Especially girls, take care of your safety and don't go on the boat with him.
