Watch: Welcome to Ocean Nomads

Atlantic Delivery Sailing Flotilla

Offshore Sailing Crew Opportunity
With multiple sailing boats we plan to sail from the Mediterranean into the Atlantic.

1250 Nautical Miles!

We open up this opportunity for Ocean Nomads which are very keen on long distance sailing, learning, epic teamwork, mile building and a hands on job.

Trip dates
Start date: Oktober 25
End date: Who knows! ;)

Passage
Mallorca to Tenerife
Possible stops in Gibraltar / Madeira. All-weather dependent.

Expectations
This is a high level and own risk sailing adventure. By applying you are confident and capable of being a valuable crew member to help the boat safely sailing to Tenerife. By exception and shown determination, skillset and willpower little experienced sailors will be considered.
It will get wet, it will get rough, and it will get tough. You are up for this!
Boats will be professionally skippered by a qualified and likeminded Ocean Nomads Skipper.
Boats are german flagged and have all the necessary safety equipment under German law (including Epirb).
Boats will have a maximum of 5 crew we carefully put together based on skillset and mindset.
On board we work as a team. We share the tasks, operation, and sailing of the boat. We provision, cook, sail, take watch, fix things if necessary together as a team.
This is an offshore trip meaning day and night will be sailed.
This is a dry trip, meaning no alcohol at sea will be drunken.
This is a fish and meat-free trip. You’re ok with eating vegetarian style on board. For the reason it’s more environmentally friendly, it’s healthy, and it’s much easier on a boat.
We do what we can to minimize our environmental impact. We sail as much as we can and use the motor as little as we can. We aim to provision as local as possible with as little plastic as possible. Preparation and doing your part is key.
We enter the boats on Oktober 25. We prepare together. We may sail out the next day, we may sail out the next week. We are dependent on the weather. To be able to join make sure you don’t have anything in your agenda until November 15.
Expect to work hard. Have a positive and open attitude, be loyal and take part in all tasks on board.
Expected the unexpected with an open mindset and just let the adventure happen!

  • Boat descriptionFor the upcoming expedition we collaborate again with a one-of-a-kind classic. Sail the ocean on her, with all safety measures in place and engine use to a minimum (no scheduled end-date). Sailing is what we’re going to do! When there’s no wind, we’ll jump into the 3000 deep blue. Happy, safe, and meaningful. 2 plates is all we broke on the last 2000 miles trip. She's one of the few classic vessels safely, legally taking souls out on the ocean without being on a tight schedule so we can actually sail and not engine. She’s beautiful. She’s solid. She’s big. She’s spacious. She’s super comfortable. She’s got soul. She lasts. Sailing ship Twister is a schooner built in 1902, with an impressive story to tell. Originally a fishing boat built out of wood, fifty-five years later, her wooden hull was replaced for a steel one so she could continue to fish. After 17 years in various ports, Twister was again rebuilt into the modern schooner that she now is. After the baptism in May 1999, under the name Twister, her speed since then proves the ship to be one of the fastest sailing ships of the Northern Europe sailing area. Renovated again in 2012, she was updated with all new safety features/equipment and all the modern comforts you could possibly want from a charter vessel. She sails under the highly regarded Dutch flag and complies with all related safety certificates. Her current owners are driven to sail her far, and with purpose. The aim is to facilitate memorable expeditions that people will treasure for life, and contribute towards a better planet. She has all the safetygear and professional crew will also join to comply with Dutch regulations. She's approved with all latest ocean necessities under Dutch law. She has sailed numerous ocean passages. What you'd need to bring is a good weather proof wear. The ship does have an awesome steering hut where we can shelter if it's cold or wet :) Learn about all trip and vessel details on our website www.oceannomads.co
