South Pacific or New Zealand - 55ft Fast Catamaran - Late April

Aloha! I (Eric - 30) am circumnavigating the world on my 55ft fast catamaran and pick up crew as I go (as many as 6) to share and create the adventure.

Upcoming opportunities:
When lockdown ends in New Zealand, I’ll be looking for crew to join in perhaps May/June/July.
If there is a solid South Pacific option available when the lockdown ends then Zephyr will be heading there. Perhaps the tropical side of Australia too.
Otherwise will be cruising New Zealand for the next few months until the South Pacific opens up. Spearing, surfing, kiteboarding, skating and epic hikes are high on the list. Planning to chill in Tauranga perhaps. If you are already in NZ reach out!

About me:
Grew up in a cruising family and got my first boat when I was 23. Have sailed over 30k miles. Engineer by training. I dig the meditation that comes from a solid ocean passage. Or finding the places in the world that you can only get to by boat. Love cooking, especially sushi or Poke out of the catch of the day.

About the boat:
Zephyr is fast bluewater Outremer 55 catamaran. Literally designed for owners circumnavigating the world unlike typical charter catamarans. We can sail at nearly the wind speed when conditions allow. Unlike most catamarans she can out sail most monohulls upwind. I try to sail as much as possible and try to be green avoiding using any kind of generator. Lots of solar and a wind gen on board as well as a few paddle boards.

About you:
Being a fun, positive, empathetic and being able to handle all the adventurous ups and down of this lifestyle in stride are probably the mostly important things. Knowing basic sailing is nice too but being an expert isn’t necessary. We all share in the day to day work that needs doing as well as cooking and cleaning.
The most important thing is helping to foster a culture of generosity on board. If we all help each other stay safe, keep the ship in order, and get the most out of life then the whole will be greater than the sum of its parts

Food stuff:
Generally we try to fill the boat with veggies in every port we can and eat lots of greens.

Money stuff:
It’s normally been easier to do a very reasonable fixed amount per day based on what stuff costs where we are provisioning. IE Mexico would be cheaper and French Polynesia would be pricier.

Other stuff:
To have real experiences, 2 months off or more is best. Knowing your way around a camera is nice too. Like I said earlier, the most important thing is helping to foster a culture of generosity on board. If we all help each other stay safe, keep the ship in order, and get the most out of life then the whole will be greater than the sum of its parts

Cheers mates and fair winds
