Captain/Engineer - Permanent - $6500 - New Zealand

Engineer/Captain or 1st Mate
This is viewed as a position that requires a hardworking all rounder who is skilled, willing and able to turn their hand to anything, and also have the ability to deal effectively and competently with challenging situations should they arise. The successful applicant will also possess a calm and cheerful disposition and will be meticulous by nature. Main duties include:
- Responsible for trip planning, route planning and safe sailing of the yacht in consultation with the owner.
- Responsible for watch keeping and crew watch keeping schedules during passages.
- Maintenance of all yacht engines, plumbing, electrical and on-board systems.
- Responsible for all safety equipment, safety procedures and compliance issues.
- Responsible for maintaining the ships logbook and all records pertaining to service, repairs and maintenance along with the upkeep of the spare parts inventory to ensure they are always current and accurate.
- Project managing and overseeing refit work in a cost effective, organised and timely manner when the owners are not on board.
- Responsible for the day to day running of the the yacht, it’s exterior cleaning, maintenance and general overall care to maintain a very high level of presentation and functionality.
- Responsible for the welfare of all on board.

  • Boat descriptionThe vessel is a 103’ performance cutter rigged sloop, from a renowned shipyard. She is a fast, safe and extremely comfortable passage maker, having proved this with two circumnavigations and numerous offshore passages. She will be based in NZ over the next few years while refit work is being undertaken during the off seasons, however will be used for cruising during the appropriate seasons both within NZ coastal waters and offshore. The owners are hands on but are looking for a crew of two, to manage the yacht, and host guests aboard. Preference will be given to an experienced and qualified super yacht couple, who have a proven track record of working together as a team and who are both honest and trustworthy. There are three double state rooms and two crew cabins all with en-suites to be managed. Guests will frequently be aboard with the owners.
