Sailing UK to the Med in May 2024
Male, 62 with RYA Yachtmaster Offshore. New owner of an old Beneteau 50ft currently based in Yarmouth, on the Isle of Wight. Aiming to set off from UK waters (going from Yarmouth to Falmouth or Plymouth) in May 2024 for Gibraltar and then into the Mediterranean for the summer. I plan to stay in Cyprus until early September and then proceed to the Canary Islands. I plan to stay in the Canary Islands until the end of November and then go to Cape Verde before going across the Atlantic in early 2025.
After that I am hoping to sail around the globe (slowly). Would like to take in major diving sites on the way.
Looking for people with offshore experience who are organised and tidy, level-headed and calm (no “drama queens”, please). Non-smokers, please. I am particularly interested in people with marine diesel engine experience (not hoping for any problems, but preparing in case they happen).
I look for people who want to share in the adventure and is prepared to share the cost. Based on previous experience I cover all the costs and everyone else chips in £20 per person per day - that covers provisions, fuel, and marina fees.
I would hope for 3 - 4 people for longer (2 day+) passages. Couples are welcome.
