Northwest Passage West-East 2023
Short handed. Desire competent crew for 60 feet steel schooner from Seattle-Kodiak-Dutch Harbor-Nome-Barrow-NW Passage West to East-Greenland-Labrador-Maine.
Preferable blue water/Alaska/Arctic skills: sailing/navigation/mechanical/medical. Share in all shipboard duties. You provide your travel to/from boat, and your own medivac insurance. I have ship expenses. Contributions welcome. Not a paid position. You are a participant, not a passenger and not an employee. Easy On/Off opportunities at Sitka-Kodiak-Nome, Barrow. Less easy but feasible at all Canadian/Greenland communities.
If interested more detailed itinerary available. We can discuss skills you have to offer. Prefer (but not mandatory) high latitude experience (North or South of 50 degrees. (Alaska/Canada/ Greenland/Antarctica/ Patagonia).
Let's be crystal clear. This is NOT a booze cruise. This is the real Arctic deal and we have to plan on being completely self sufficient without reliable external support. All crew must carry their own medivac insurance policy for duration of trip. (this is reasonably priced, but I require it).
Must be Covid Vaccinated.
Estimated end in Nova Scotia or Maine October 2023. Suitable crew may get on/off at enroute ports as feasible.
Delaying Arctic/Northwest Passage until May 2023 to allow Canada COVID entry restrictions to be rescinded.
July-Sept 2022 boat will sail from Seattle to SE Alaska to exercise boat and allow potential arctic crew to familiarize with her.
