Antigua to Ireland

I am looking for 2 or 3 crew to sail from Antigua in late May to Ireland and eventually the Azores depending on circumstances. You should have night sailing experience and capable of managing a night watch alone. You would also be sharing cooking and other tasks. You should be fit and healthy, a non smoker and have a EU passport or visas.
The boat is a safe center cockpit blue water cruiser. We could expect rough conditions at some point. We will try to have a comfortable and enjoyable passage, making around 150 miles per day.

  • Boat descriptionTravel Bug is a fully equipped ketch, with spares for an ocean crossing. Most controls are in the center cockpit (reefing genoa, main and mizzen sails). Downwind sailing requires setting up poles for a twin headsail arrangement, afterwards the head sails can be reefed from the cockpit. Therefore we rarely must leave the cockpit, which will be completely enclosed every night (cannot fall out). AIS transmitter/receiver and VHF will be on 24h/day, Radar all night, SSB only by skipper for weather updates and weather routing and sending position reports. Solar panels, generator, and water maker add to comfort. There are backup systems for sailing equipment failures. Watertight bulkheads. There is a Jordan Series Drogue in the event of severe conditions. 6 man liferaft and EPIRB and portable VHF DSC in the grab bag. JonBouy recovery module if MOB. Travel Bug is not a good close hauled sailer so we will take advantage of weather routing to optimise our course. Depending on sea state we should expect to make 150 miles a day. The electronics are modern Raymarine. Cooking is with gas and microwave. There is one fridge with a small freezer, and a 100 litre compartment that can be either a fridge or freezer.
