Thistle Doo crossing the Atlantic

Just an update to my previous advertisement.

Currently at Cascais, shorty leaving for Spain then Portugal where 2 crew members are waiting. We need one more for heading to the Caribbean, Panama and beyond, via the Canaries.

I'm leaving this week for Lisbon, to start the voyage.

All ocean systems are installed and working and it's time to go - although things took far longer in the UK than I wanted.

This is the venture of my lifetime and I need to share the experience. I can do it single-handed but just why? Much better to share the adventure and the rewards.

One thing though, I need crew that knows how to sail; I can teach "Thistle Doo", but can't teach "beginner sailors". Please, if you can't sail, have no experience then please don't apply

Does this interest you?

Just an update, not trying to be rude, evasive, selfish, just the coronavirus outbreak has lots of implications here and just how things go, are still not clear. But finally, things seem to be opening up.

Yes, all sorts of complications with covid-19 but we can and will work through them.

Ian.

  • Boat descriptionsolid, round-bilge, long-keel, blue water cruiser albeit old-school in ways Liferaft, EPIRB, 2 station vhf with AIS, jacklines, flares, radar, solar panels/wind generator, Raymarine Evo autopilot, HydroVane self steering, Chart Plotter... sleeps 8 but I don't want more than 3. She handles like a honey and storms in the North Sea and crossing and across the Bay of Biscay caused no panic in her. Her sails are heavyweight too. I would prefer to run all her lines back to the cockpit but that's not really possible unless I change the mast. Biggest flaw is that she reverses like a drunk pig. Currently at Panama after s single-handed crossing from Portugal, stopping only at Curacao
