A lovely vessel and exciting project
I accepted an invitation from Jürgen’s to join him for a voyage to relocate MV Comrades from Ventspils to Amsterdam. Sadly, weather conditions and the forecast in the Eastern Baltic prevented us from making the journey. Comrades is a beautiful, strong and historic vessel. Jürgen has invested an enormous amount into her refurbishment this far and the potential for both boat and project are obvious. She needs further work for her future intended use supporting expeditions into the Arctic but, from what I saw if her during our brief time onboard, her basic systems are sound. Jürgen has a worthy dream and I look forward to hearing more about progress to complete Comrade’s refurbishment and conversion and, I hope playing a part in her future. I was sorry that our voyage on this occasion had to be cancelled but it did reassure me that Jürgen is a sensible owner who is prepared to put the safety of his vessel and crew ahead of other priorities - however disappointing that might have been for him in the short term.
