Delivery sailing from Lisbon to Denmark

Update 17/6-21:
I've visited the wharf a few times and now hope to be ready to launch and make final preparations within the coming 10 days.
I've found 3 crew members that seem capable of joining. 1 here from Crewbay and two from home.

Thank you for the interest shown here. I'm no longer actively looking for more crew but will leave the add untill we arrive in Denmark in case we will need a new crew member in the process.

Best regards, Jeroen

(Previously:
Right now I have poor contact to the wharf.
Therefor I've asked a local agent to visit the wharf and give me a picture about the situation with the repair and maintenance works on the boat.
I've found an experienced sailor that is willing to sail with me.
He seems to prefer to recruit the crew himself.
I haven't finalized an agreement with him and I haven't decided whether I'm sailing along.
I need to get in touch with the wharf first to check up on the progress with the repairs before I go further recruiting a crew for sailing the boat home.

Best regards, Jeroen)

(Original text:
I'm looking for up to 3 crew members to help me sail our sailing boat home from Lisbon to Copenhagen.
The boat is being renovated on wharf at the moment. Departure date to be confirmed with respect to progress of works.
So far we're planning to leave end of May or early June.
I'd prefer sailing by sail if possible but will use power if needed. Probably starting out with a long tack in a direction north of the Acore Islands to catch suitable wind.
We will study weather conditions before leaving. I will prefer to sail in one go from Lisbon to Ijmuiden in Holland.
I need people who have tried enough to know that they don't easily become sea sick.
I need at least one person with a minimum of some years of sailing experience. The two others would be OK with light sailing experience.
The boat will pay fuel, harbour fees, food on board and the fee through Kielerkanal (Brunsbüttel - Kiel).
Crew pays own expenses and tickets in both ends.
Corona: Negative PCR test no older than 72 hours when joining the crew in order to protect each other. To avoid problems with corona contamination and regulations I'll prefer to sail directly from Lisbon to Brunsbüttel if possible.
If delayed or meeting problems on the way, I might settle for sailing to a place like Ijmuiden in Holland leaving the boat there untill I can sail it home at a later time.

There's a few uncertainties in the project. Corona will have to permit. The wharf will have to finish works according to plan and finally the weather forecast.
So please allow for adjustment to dates."

Incompetent shipyards, persistent and determined Captain

5

Jeroen bought his Wasa 51 in Greece and set out to bring her home to Denmark. He managed to bring it to Lisbon, which is where I joined after the boat has been on land for a year being "worked on" by a local shipyard. After many delays and poor work by the shipyard we decided the boat is ready and managed to get the boat back in the water and sailed off towards the bay of Biscay. Engine and fuel tanks had been out of the boat and serviced by the shipyard but the first night we already had engine problems. A day off Brest, the mainsail got stuck in the tracks and we couldn't bring it down. It turned out that the shipyard in Greece did not run the wires up the mast correctly and they came out into the sail track, got stuck in with the sail and we had to go up the mast en route and cut the sail off the cars and replace all the wiring in the next port. Coming out of the Kiel canal, the clutch broke and we were out of engine. Calmly, we sailed the boat the last leg from Kiel without engine and smoothly docked in Copenhagen. Despite numerous other small difficulties, we succeeded. Jeroen is a hard worker on the boat, iron stomach against sea sickness and calm around danger. He's around on deck often, maybe even a bit too much as he also needs sleep. He managed to bring his boat from Greece to Denmark with imperfect crew on both legs of the voyage. He requires many things ship shape, but will most times make sure it is like that himself. I think he could be a bit more stern with the crew regarding his requirements on board. He doesn't get angry at crew members when things don't go perfect but rather tries to figure out what to do to get out of a bad situation. I know that if I am a captain, I would apply many of his qualities to the role. He has Dutch and Danish heritage but I think a fair bit of Viking blood runs through his veins. He is quite at home on a moving vessel over the sea.
