Watch: Still sailing! - Sept 2020

Captain/Engineer - Temporary / Seasonal - €3000 - Greece

Many thanks to all who replied to our ad for a skipper/engineer for the second part of our Greek season 2022! We are all sorted now for the remainder of the season.

However, we will be looking for another skipper/engineer for the summer 2023 season; so until we get time to update this ad properly, we're leaving the description below in place .

There is also a possibility that our catamaran (55') in Thailand will need an additional skipper for this coming winter season.

Please note: **WE NEED SOMEONE WITH GREAT TECHNICAL SKILLS** Sailing experience can be supplemented easily; fixit skills cannot. We are very independent with our maintenance, have our own great workshop facilities, etc.... we would like someone who can use them!

Below the ad from earlier this summer:
***********************************************

Skipper / engineer, from late Aug - Greek isles.

One of our team sadly has to quit; his visa application to stay longer than 3 months looks like taking until Xmas !

So we are looking for a replacement skipper to join our team for the rest of the season. It could be full-time - ie monthly salary no matter what; or possibly a shorter term freelancer for when we have confirmed bookings. We'd prefer the longer term deal if we find the right person; otherwise, we can be flexible.

PDF available with full details.

This will be a "jump in the deep end" deal - so previous flotilla or similar experience would be ideal - someone who knows how things work out here already! Both for the fun/easy-going attitude needed and esp for the "Med mooring" skills. You need to be a sociable, easy-going person, who thrives on developing a great team spirit amongst our liveaboard guests.

ABOUT US:
We're a small, owner-operated charter company with 49' and a 55' monohulls in the Dodecanese islands of Greece, plus a 55' catamaran in Thailand. We run both the usual skippered charters for private groups, and also have our little "niche" market of shareboats - matching up individuals and couples to join a shared sailing adventure. This is how we grew the business in the early days, and it's still going strong!

Our clientele range from zero sailing experience to people who've owned boats for decades; it's the skipper's job to blend these diverse people into a fun, dynamic team. We do our best to weed out the "cruise ship" types, so our guests are the active, adventurous ones - it's not hard to meld them into a close-knit, fun group.

The islands where we sail are the smaller, off-the-beaten-track ones, where we've been sailing for the past 20+ years. We're pretty much "part of the family" by now, and the welcome we get from our local families makes everyone feel right at home instantly.

The downside of this remoteness is that if anything goes wrong on the boat - you need to fix it ! There's no-one else on standby; you need creative practical skills, and keep things running smoothly with a smile on your face (yes, even if it is a blocked head!). We have our own extensive workshop facilities in home base (Leros), so we can be independent from "Greek Time", when we need to fix things.

OWNER / SKIPPER OPPORTUNITY
We have a network of partner boats with whom we work - all small operations who genuinely care that their guests have the best time ever. We have an opening for someone to join our Dodecanese team on this basis; either with your own boat, or we can help finance one of our existing boats. This is a longterm deal, not something to be rushed into; being able to meet anyone interested in person is vital from both sides.

We would be especially keen to talk to someone interested in setting up a sail training branch to our company. We provide the marketing, the clients, the backend admin; you would be the "frontline" instructor with oodles of enthusiasm for passing on sailing skills to newbies or wannabe "bareboat skippers". And yes, we have the perfect boat for it too ! Purchase, lease or owner finance options available.

Work to Sail exchange

5

I stayed with Diane earlier this year for 3 weeks and had a great experience, the work to sail exchange exactly what i was looking for. Daine and Ray are down to earth, understanding, approachable people who offered support in all aspects of the work and the sail to all the different levels of skill and experience that i shared my stay with. The Aegean islands also offer some beautiful harbour towns, anchorages and historic attractions. I would highly recommend.
