Looking for a Deckhand, Steward(ess) or Stew/Deck position
Hello,
My name is Alessandro Calello and I’m a 38 years old guy from Imperia, in Italy, I’m new to this industry, I’ve just obtained my ENG/1 in Montecarlo and completed the necessary courses at the Seascope Academy of Antibes, I’ve completed my STCW and a Deckhand Training Course which thought me many dynamics of what it means to work on a boat, inside and out and I’ve done some day work in Antibes where I was asked to do complete wash downs and took care of the teak, sanding it, oiling it and varnishing it, I’ve learned as well about knots and line throwing but of course, I was thought just a basic and I will need much more practice, I’m telling you this so you know that I’m not 100% green, but I have an idea of what to do but I will still need someone to teach me more.
Even if I don’t have proper yacht experience yet I could compensate because I’m a quick learner with strong strong initiative and with my age I consider myself a mature and responsible person because in my past I’ve been travelling for almost 15 years all over the wold working in hospitality, between hotels and bars and restaurants being a manager, experience that made me very professional on the job, very careful to details, very reliable and I always strive to give to each customer the best experience possible, which will make me extremely more suitable to cover an interior position like a Steward.
I’m very eager and determined to start my career in this industry, to learn as much as possible to be able to be an asset for the boat I will work on, I’m a very friendly and easy going person and usually in a group I’m always the glue that brings people together, I love to be there for my team and to help them in any way I can and I don’t have any problems in doing multitasks or to help in any department the ship will need.
I’m available to start immediately, I will only need the time to pack and get wherever you want me to be, my idea is to start as deckhand but with my background and experiences I could easily work both, interior and exterior if the situation will need it.
One of my strength is the ability to always find a way to solve problems and as I like to say “there are no problems, only solutions!”, I’m very patient and I always avoid conflicts or solve them in a diplomatic way.
